![]() ![]() ![]() It is argued that bricolage is, among other things, a practical response to a field of practice that at times constrains as much as it allows space to roam, unimpeded, across disciplinary boundaries. A core focus on questions of method, and of autoethnographic approaches in particular, is presented alongside questions of research ethics and the policing thereof by institutional structures of disciplining and audit in the neoliberal academy. Some background context on the anthropological underpinnings to bricolage is provided, alongside methodological reflections that relate the concept to ideas of 'gleaning' as a creative and performative engagement with everyday spaces as they are 'found' and rehearsed in practice. These are closely focused around the central concept of bricolage and the idea of the researcher as bricoleur. The individual contributions that make up the special issue are outlined and salient themes pulled out that address and respond to some the wider discussion points raised throughout this introduction. ![]() This paper provides an introductory overview to the Humanities special issue on 'spatial bricolage'. ![]()

Does Kayden have the world’s shittiest parents ever? ![]() Kayden is so overwhelmed, he pushes Callie away. The beginning of this book deals with the ramifications of all of this. Kayden has been stabbed by his abusive father, beaten up Callie’s rapist and his secret of cutting himself is now out in the open. The Redemption of Callie & Kayden picks up right where book one left off. We are not going to rehash book one in this review, although I do strongly encourage you to read it before reading book two. They both have SO much pain in their lives, it is very hard for them to trust and let themselves fall in love. ![]() It’s a very angsty New Adult story about two people who meet and fall in love, but it is far from simple. ![]() Mandi: Recently, after seeing much squeeing and hype on Twitter over The Coincidence of Kayden & Callie, I read it (it’s $1.99 on kindle if you want to try it) and I really enjoyed it. The Redemption of Callie & Kayden by Jessica Sorensen (The Coincidence #2) ![]() ![]() ![]() Instead, Jen writes as a skilled teacher, articulating with precision and simplicity, giving her readers a helpful framework for studying God's word. ![]() Yet she writes without intimidation her own words are neither lofty nor inaccessible. ![]() Jen Wilkin encourages women to "put the ruffles in the back," (you'll have to read the book to learn the specific meaning of this one :)), to put away flaky bible study, and to realize that simply "doing devotions" or a "spending time in the Word" are often merely buzzwords that have not been further elaborated or adequately demonstrated. Just like our culture is currently learning that this the case with food, the more processed your Bible study is, the less healthy it is for you. Women of the Word: How to Study the Bible with Both Our Hearts and Our Minds is a clarion call to today's Christian women to lay aside poor Bible study habits and to dig deeply into patient, purposeful intake of the full scope of Scripture, examining God's Word word-by-word, and within context of The Big Story. (But no worries, lovers of and trained students in hermeneutics, the author still pulls out and articulately teaches words and concepts such as metanarrative, exegesis, and Bible literacy.)
